BALEARICS TO MARK THE DEATH OF BRITISH SCULPTOR

By Humphrey Carter

PALMA
THE funeral of the famous British sculptor Barry Flanagan, who died in Ibiza where he lived since 1987 on Monday night, is going to be held in the town of Santa Eulalia near his home so that his many friends and admirers on the island can pay their respects.

Flanagan, who died of motor neurone disease aged 68, will first be cremated here in Palma but the dates have yet to be confirmed by members of his family who have been arriving on the island since the Welsh-born artist passed away.

Flanagan studied at Birmingham College of Art and Crafts (1957–1958) before going on to St. Martin's School of Art in London in 1964.
