Balearics has the fifth dearest petrol in Spain

LEAD FREE PETROL COSTS 99.2 EURO CENTS A LITRE

THE Balearics was the region with the fifth most expensive petrol in Spain in July, with the top quality lead free petrol costing 99.2 euro cents a litre, slightly below the state average of 99.3 cents. When it came to diesel, it had the fourth highest price in Spain at 92.9 cents a litre, compared to the state average of 93 cents.
According to figures published yesterday by the central ministry of industry, tourism and trade, the regions with the dearest petrol were Asturias (100.5 cents), Catalonia (101 cents), Galicia (101.2 cents) and Madrid (100.9 cents).

Diesel prices were higher than the Balearics in Catalonia (94.9 cents), Galicia, (93.7 cents) and Madrid (94.5 cents).
However, the ministry reported that the pre-tax price of diesel rose by 1.77 percentage points less in Spain than the rest of the European Union, comparing the May-July quarter of this year to last year. However, lead free petrol went up 0.02 percentage points more in Spain than the eurozone.
The minsitry report said that the pre-tax price of diesel rose by 35.45 per cent in Spain in the second quarter of the year compared to a 37.22 per cent increase in the UE. These increases are lower than those of the itnernational quotation for diesel which shot up by nearly 51 per cent.

Lead-free petrol rose by 14.96 per cent in Spain in the second quarter of the year, compared to 14.94 per cent in the UE, while the international quotation went up by just over 22 per cent. A ministry spokesman also revealed figures for the global demand of oil products in the first half of the year, which was 37.6 tons, four per cent more than the same period last year. In June alone, the increase was 3.1 per cent, to a total of 6.3 million tons.
However, the report said that demand for petrol actually went down by 5.5 per cent, while that of kerosene rose by 5.6 per cent and that of diesel by 3.8 per cent.
