BALEARIC reservoirs are not as full as they were last year and this is all down to the lack of rain over the last few months, said a spokesperson from EMAYA, the company which manages the reservoirs in Majorca. The reservoirs in the Balearic Islands are at 42.03 percent capacity, whereas at the same time last year they were at 59.65 percent capacity.
The Gorg Blau reservoir is only 43.15 percent full (as at 22 August), and the Cuber reservoir is only at 40.25 percent of it's total capacity.
The source at EMAYA said that there is not one drop of water in the Font d'en Baster reservoir, when on 22 August in 2004 there were 565 cubic metres.
The Font de Na Pera is also bone dry.
However, the situation is completely different in Ibiza, where the water reserves have actually increased this year, now up to 51 percent capacity compared to 40 percent in 2004, the sources said yesterday.
