AROUND 91% of British travellers claim they are now more nervous about booking their holidays with less well-known travel firms since the collapse of several travel firms this summer.
A survey carried out by TripAdvisor of over 2'600 Brits, on August 19, showed that travellers are now much more nervous about travelling with smaller unknown firms, following the recent collapse of companies such as Goldtrail, Monster Travel and Sun4U.
TripAdvisor said the results were potentially worrying for smaller independent travel firms.
Emma O'Boyle, spokesperson for TripAdvisor, said: With so many holidaymakers uncertain about their rights regarding compensation and repatriation it is perhaps not surprising that nine out of 10 Brits are now thinking twice before choosing a travel firm they have not heard of.
This lack of confidence could see the larger, better-known travel firms benefiting as travellers opt to stick with what they know and shun purely price-driven options.
