No health transport solution yet

PEDRO Berruezo, secretary general of the Transport Federation within the UGT trade union, said that both IB-Salut and the Balearic Ministry of Health had agreed that their demands on behalf of their members were reasonable, but they warned that “we haven't the money to address the problem at the moment”. The UGT union has for months been demanding a solution from IB-Salut for the main demands of their members, such as the incorporation of a second worker in ambulances or giving information to ambulance crews as to whether the patient they are carrying is suffering from any contagious disease. The UGT had accused the Health Service of “not complying” with many aspects of the law with regard to the health transport system. This does not include emergencies, but is a reference to transport of patient for therapy, dialysis, radiotherapy and other things. They also accused IB-Salut of “ignoring” the protests of their members.
