Supermaket giant Eroski supporting the Balearic produce

Supermaket chain Eroski is increasing its investment in Balearic products and last year spent over 75 million euros on 224 local suppliers, around 1.7% more compared to 2011. Local wine, Mahon cheese and Majorcan cured sausage “sobrasada” were amongst the products. The supermarket reported a growth in investment and sales.

Sales of local meat, in particular beef and lamb also incresaed as well as the fish sales, which experienced a boom in the 2.5 million euros. Alfredo Herraez, director of Eroski, said this week during a campaign entitled, “We like Balearic products”, and this shows “the commitment” of the chain to supporting local producers.
