Supermaket chain Eroski is increasing its investment in Balearic products and last year spent over 75 million euros on 224 local suppliers, around 1.7% more compared to 2011. Local wine, Mahon cheese and Majorcan cured sausage sobrasada were amongst the products. The supermarket reported a growth in investment and sales.
Sales of local meat, in particular beef and lamb also incresaed as well as the fish sales, which experienced a boom in the 2.5 million euros. Alfredo Herraez, director of Eroski, said this week during a campaign entitled, We like Balearic products, and this shows the commitment of the chain to supporting local producers.
