WELL the wait is almost over. The BBC announced yesterday that the Majorca episode of hit BBC2 motoring programme, Top Gear, will be shown on Sunday July 26 at 9p.m.
Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond travelled to the island last March to take part in the Majorca Classic Car rally. They filmed on the island for three days with the three drivers taking part in various stages of the rally in some interesting vehicles. Their co-drivers were elected by the Top Gear team; Clarkson was accompanied by a Majorcan (who underlined the BBC´s presenters great driving skills) May had a beautiful Page 3 Girl as his co-driver and Hammond had a midget sat in the passenger seat! According to Top Gear filming went very well; the weather was fine and the Classic car rally was over the moon. The only low point was that someone locked Jeremy Clarkson is a portaloo at the Lluchmajor racetrack! The hilarious incident was filmed on a mobile phone and has become a major hit on YouTube. Clarkson in the end manages to break-out despite tyres being pilled up against the door. Unfortunately, Clarkson didn´t appear to take the incident too well and proceeded to blast Majorcan expats in his Sunday Times column Even Piers Morgan, the former editor of the Mirror, who has been involved in a few incidents with Clarkson, got involved saying that the self-proclaimed Motorhead should learn to take a joke. All very funny but there is some concern on Majorca about the programme especially after the portaloo incident!
