Motorbike rally expected to attract 3´000 bikers

SOME 3'000 motorbikes will converge in Palma on Sunday to mark the occasion of the seventh national rally of La 100 en moto Mallorca 2003.
According to the organisers, the massed groups of motorcyclists will leave the city from Avenida Jaime III to ride out to towns and villages in different parts of the island. The promoters, Cadena 100 Mallorca, expect some 200 riders from mainland Spain will arrive in Majorca from Barcelona and Valencia on Saturday morning.
An informal reception for them will be held the same day in Bellver Castle in Palma where they will be welcomed by several dignitaries.
The mass meeting will begin at 10am on Sunday in Avda Jaime III where an hour later a young woman, Dori, emblematically known as “Miss 100 en Moto,” will wave the flag to signal the start of the island-wide motorcycle exodus to Algaïda, Montuïri, Vilafranca, Manacor, Felanitx, Campos, Sa Rápita, S´Estanyol, Cap Blanc and El Arenal where they will have lunch.
