PALMA
THE plans to build a new golf club on the Son Claret estate in Es Capdella, Calvia, were yesterday unveiled by Mathias Kühn.
The project to build an 18-hole golf course and nine-hole practice course has the support of Calvia Council but will need to be declared a project of general interest by the Council of Majorca, something which has yet to be applied for.
According to Kühn & Partner, the golf course will cover nearly all of the estate which stretches across an area of 117 hectares.
A project also includes the construction of a club house but does not feature plans for any other constructions on the estate.
Kühn intends to reform and restore the ancient houses on the estate which are declared Cultural Heritage Sites but stressed that the project does not involve the construction of family houses, apartments or any kind of tourist accommodation. Some local residents were concerned about claims that the project would involve a hotel and that the luxury development would lead to an increase in traffic passing through the village.
However, those fears were quashed by Kühn & Partner yesterday.
