ROYAL FEVER GRIPS MINORCA

ROYAL fever continued to grip the Balearics yesterday with Crown Prince Felipe and his wife Doña Letizia visiting Minorca.
After presiding over a military parade at the General Asensio barracks in Palma, the future heirs to the Spanish thrown flew by helicopter to Mahon where they first visited the Council of Minorca government offices before moving on to the Carmen cloisters and lunch with local dignitaries and business people at the Jagaró restaurant in the harbour. Where ever the couple went, there were thousands of people who had waited for hours to catch a glimpse, snap a photograph or even shake the hands of and congratulate the Prince and Princess of Asturias on the news that they are expecting their first child. After lunch they visited the Coinga cheese factory in Alaior and them moved on to Ciutadella where they visited Es Born and the Seminario cloisters before attending a civil reception in their honor at 8pm. This morning, the Prince and Princess of Asturias travel to Ibiza and Formentera for another one-day visit before returning to Palma tomorrow night and the final day of their royal tour on Friday.
