THE official search for the 46-year-old man from Son Carrió, who was reported missing by his mother and sister on Thursday has been called off, although volunteers and members of the Majorcan Fire Brigade and the Sant Llorenc des Cardassar local police are continuing to look for him.
According to sources from the Fire Brigade and the local police, this is a localised search, less exhaustive than the one which had been going on during the last few days. Firemen from three fire stations, local police officers and residents are taking part in the search, which also has the support of the Guardia Civil's patrol in the area, based in Manacor.
However, The search has not yet turned up any new clues as to the whereabouts of the man. On Friday and Saturday some 70 people, among them officers from the Guardia Civil, Sant Llorenc's local police, and volunteers from Sant Llorenc, carried out an intensive search for the man.
Also participating in this search was the local Mayor, Mateu Puigros, and a Guardia Civil helicopter. On Sunday some residents continued their search, in spite of the official search being called off.
