Balearic government rules out copayment for national health service

Balearic government spokesperson Rafel Bosch yesterday ruled out the introduction of copayment for national health care in the Balearics.
The idea that the public pay a certain amount for their national health care is being considered by various other debt-laden regional governments, but the Balearics has no intention of following suit, Bosch stressed.

However, he did confirm that the “health cent” stealth tax will come into force on April 1 with the price of petrol in the Balearics being raised by nearly 5 cents per litre to help raise funds for the financially struggling Ib-Salut national health service.

During their electoral campaign the PP vowed to never introduced the “health cent”.
