THE 80-year-old cruise passenger who suffered multiple head injuries when the walkway connecting the MSC Fantasia to Palma's cruise terminal collapsed on Thursday, was said to have made a slight recovery yesterday.
The victim fell some 15 metres into the port, colliding with the Italian-owned cruise liner's hull, when its mooring snapped and was rescued by three brave crew members.
Yesterday, he remained in intensive care at the Palmaplanas Clinic where medical sources said that he had shown a slight improvement.
The victim's family are understood to have flown to Palma on Friday to be with him in the hospital while the Guardia Civil is understood to have also opened an investigation into the accident which is alleged to have been caused by a freak gust of wind.
