THE Teatre Lloseta on Majorca will host the Banff Mountain Film Festival tonight from 7pm. This is an international competition which, during the last 28 days, has shown the best films and videos about Mountain culture and adventure. The Banff Mountain Film Festival shows stories of courage and passion in a way which surprises, inspires and thrills, according to the organisers, who commented that the competition, which takes place annually in the Canadian town of Banff, last year had 300 films from 25 different countries competing. The festival includes films from Canada, Norway, the USA, Spain, Switzerland, France, Germany, Australia and Britain. There are prizes in eight different categories: the Grand Prize, Rock climbing, Mountain Sports, Mountains and their environment, Mountain culture, Short films, Fiction, and a prize given by the audience (the People's Choice Award). In addition to these films, a group of Majorcan mountain climbers will present a slide show and recount their adventures on their expedition Majorca on top of Everest 05. And then from the heights to the other extreme. Majorca from below is a film which will be shown by the company Isurus about their diving expeditions around the island.
