Palma. The Chelsea-supporting uncle of the Duchess of Cambridge, with whom Kate Middleton and Prince William stayed in 2006, has just put his famous villa, La Maison de Bang Bang in Ibiza, on the market for over five million pounds.
Also reportedly gone is the 75ft yacht, sold for 700'000 pounds.
Despite Gary Goldsmith having earned a reputation for being colourful, he did attend the royal wedding two years ago and is said to have regularly accommodated the young royals and their friends over the years in the Balearics. Goldsmith, 47, is the younger brother of Kate Middleton's mother, Carole and splits his time between his Ibiza villa and a mews house in west London.
It is said that he is selling his property in Ibiza in order to purchase a much larger house in London where he intends to apparently write a book about his life and how he made his first million by the age of 30.
He sold his IT recruitment business Computer Futures in 2005 and became a property developer.
In the past he's worked in sports management and his fortune has been estimated at 25million pounds.
The prospect of him following in Pippa Middleton's footsteps and writing a book has, apparently raised a few eye brows.
While he has said it will be tale about how he made it from rags to riches, there is concern about the tattooed uncle revealing some of the more colourful experiences in his life.
For example, in a sting operation by a newspaper, Goldsmith allegedly offered cocaine to an undercover reporter at his villa. He also appeared to boast about his links to the Royal Family, joking that when the couple were married he would have access to Buckingham Palace, adding: I've got my own rooms, the Goldsmith Wing. I'm going to be the Duke of Slough. Although there was sympathy for Kate's uncle it also meant an inevitable temporary freeze in the public relationship with the couple. Kate's mother was reported to be furious.
According to royal sources William was urged by Palace officials to break all ties with Goldsmith but took a relaxed view of the scandal.
