Palma.Three Palma properties belonging to the former Partido Popular President of the Balearics, Jaume Matas, are to be auctioned on April 25 by the Bank of Valencia which lent him the money to pay his three million bail.
Matas is embroiled in the Palma Arena corruption case and is accused of various charges including bribery, falsifying documents and fraud.
The final cost of the construction of the Palma Arena velodrome was some 50 million euros over budget and Matas, who went on to become the Spanish Minister for the Environment during the Aznar administration, appears to be the key to where the public funds went, according to the chief fraud prosecutor.
The three properties are an apartment on the Ramblas, a commercial premises in calle Sant Miguel and the infamous palacete in San Feliu.
