Nearly 3 million to social services

Palma.—The City Council yesterday approved a total of 2'984'670 euros worth of social services funding after reaching agreement with organisations aiming to stop the homeless and jobless falling outside the municipal support network.

Partido Popular (PP) Council spokesman Julio Martinez confirmed that the funding would provide support for 1'655 people who experts believe form the most vulnerable social groups.

Martinez explained that training programmes will be provided to such people on how they can succeed in taking their place in the job market. The groups will be given instruction on the importance of punctuality, hygiene, working relationships with colleagues, team work and how to assume responsibility.
