State to pump 444 million euros into Majorca's railway

THE central and regional government yesterday finally reached an agreement over state investment in Majorca's rail network.
The Secretary of State for development, Magdalena Alvarez has agreed to pump the best part of 444 million euros into expanding and improving the island's rail service between now and the end of 2011.

More precisely, the state funding is going to be spent on changing the existing track and to mark the rubber stamping of the investment deal, the Balearic Transport Minister, Gabriel Vicens, will today unveil the plans for the recuperation of the rail link between Manacor and Arta which, along with the new link from Sa Pobla to Alcudia, can now go ahead.
