BLOW TO THE HEAD KILLED YOUNG MOTHER

By Humphrey Carter
MARIA Isabel Ferrer was killed by a single blow to the head with a rock at the very spot her body was found, the autopsy confirmed yesterday.
As the international manhunt for the prime suspect, the victim's 28-year-old Moroccan boyfriend, continued, Maria Isabel's family spoke of their heartache and pain. “How do you think I feel, I've had my daughter snatched away from me,” the father of the murdered mother of two said. “The killer knew what he was doing and the murder was premeditated,” the victim's father, who preferred to remain anonymous, said. “There's no excuse for this!” he added. The autopsy also revealed that Maria Isabel was killed on Friday, the day on which her boyfriend and father of their ten month old child, Hamir Guezzar, flew to Madrid. Guezzar, who has been previously reported to the police for domestic violence, is believed to have driven Maria Isabel to the scene of her death on the Es Barranc estate between s'Hostalet and Puntiro. The Moroccan hit her in the head with a rock which caused deep cuts and left her semi-conscious. Hamir then apparently dragged her further along the wooded track and hit her a few more times with a rock about the head and other parts of the body. But it was the first, initial blow which proved fatal. Police have said that he just left the body, little effort was made to hide the victim. The autopsy has revealed signs of a fight, but she apparently lost a lot of blood and was neither able to fend off her attacker nor escape. Last night her family spoke of how Hamir mistreated their daughter “leaving her abandoned at home like an animal.” The couple lived in Son Cladera where Maria would often be seen hiding from Hamir in a local cafe, apparently afraid of another beating.
