CASTING for 20'000 extras to star in a new film alongside Rupert Everett starts tomorrow in Ibiza.
Everett leads the cast of People which includes top Majorcan actress Rossy de Palma and will be directed by French director Fabien Ontentiente. Filming will start on October 6 with the movie set on location in Ibiza and Paris. The producers will be casting for extras over two days and need around 20'000 young people to fill the clubs in which parts of the film will be set.
Set against the backdrop of the Ibizan nightlife, the film unit will be on location in Ibiza for at least four weeks.
People is the latest in a series of films to have been shot in Ibiza over the past three years, using the backdrop of the island's nightlife and avant garde society. Ibiza and its sister island Formentera, the setting for last year's Spanish blockbuster Lucia y el Sexo which launched the country's latest female star Paz Vega, have become popular with Spanish film directors while Ibiza has been the setting for a number of international productions. Rossy de Palma, in Palma just a few days ago, is not only Majorca's leading actress, but also one of Spain's top actresses, working on both sides of the Atlantic, but more lately in France. Everett, who started life as a highly successful model in Milan, has also shown his musical talents on two remakes: singing backup on Madonna's remake of American Pie and by dueting with pop star Robbie Williams on a version of the classic They Can't Take That Away from Me. The British actor who became England's hottest new international star in 1984 after appearing in Another Country, has starred in films such as My Best Friend's Wedding and Shakespeare in Love, while turning down the role which went to Daniel Day Lewis in Room with a View.
