. THE discovery of a 6th century BC Greek ship off Cala Sant Vicenç has lead archaeologists to believe that Majorca was part of the commercial market of the Greeks. A report on the wreck was released yesterday by Ferran Tarongí, who directed the project. Some of the pieces recovered from the wreck will go on show in the Museum of Pollensa from April 5. They have been restored and catalogued. A second archaeological campaign, lasting two months, will be conducted this summer. In the future, there are plans to refloat the ship so that it can form part of a Museum of the Sea. The archaeologists also found remains of other periods on the sea bed, such as pottery from the 1st century AD, coins from the 5th century AD and remains of a 19th century ship. The Greek ship was described as exceptional and there are said to be only three others of the same characteristics.
