THE Royal Navy minesweepers, Grimbsy and Ledbury which visited Palma in January were last night involved in mine clearance operations off the coast of the recently captured port of Umm Qasr. Once the operation is completed humanitarian aid will be able to be shipped into the port. The Bulletin gave both ships a warm send-off from Palma with Bulletin chef Marc Fosh helping cook breakfast for the crew and both ships being presented with giant Serrano hams. THE Central Government Delegate, Miguel Ramis, will be holding talks on Monday with Balearic leader, Francesc Antich, to discuss the latest developments on Iraq. The Balearic government has already created its own crisis committee to discuss the effects of the Iraq war on the Balearics. In Monday's meeting they will be discussing all the latest developments on the crisis including the fact that giant U.S. B52 bombers are using Balearics airspace on their way to bomb Baghdad. The Balearic leader, Francesc Antich, has already protested to the central government about this state of affairs.
