Each year, the Capuchine nuns open the doors of their convent to visitors, to exhibit their collection of Nativity Scenes which date from the 17th to the 19th centuries. This year, the Nativity Scenes are complemented by a collection of vestments and liturgical objects from the baroque period, which have been preserved over the years by the nuns. In many cases, the materials used to make the exhibits on show came from the clothing of high-ranking Majorcan noblewomen. The main Nativity Scene on show dates from 1710 and there is also a collection of smaller Scenes from later periods. Also on show is a recently restored 17th century Turkish carpet which was used to decorate the church at the convent on feast days. The Convent is in Calle Caputxines, just behind the Rambla, and admission is 2.50 euros (children under 10 free). It is open from 10.30am to 1.30pm and 5 to 8.30pm, closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
