Transplant trio celebrate in Ibiza

Three young women from Dundee and Fife are celebrating being “normal” after life-changing lung transplants and are now planning their first holiday abroad to Ibiza. All three were born with the life-threatening genetic disorder cystic fibrosis, which causes serious problems in the lungs and digestive system. All three were being treated at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, when their conditions deteriorated so much that, without a transplant, they would have died. Nicola Marshall (25), who is organising the trip said “I was on oxygen 24 hours a day and needed a wheelchair to get about,” she said. “My stepfather had to carry me up and down stairs. “My Mum had to wash and dress me.”
