More than 269'000 passengers are expected to use Palma's Son Sant Joan airport this weekend, 8.25 per cent less than the same time last year, according to a spokesman for the airport authority AENA. Saturday will be the busiest day with 796 flights and 114'500 passengers, followed by Sunday with 641 operations and 87'000 passengers. Figures for Friday indicate 563 flights and 68'000 passengers. AENA said that figures for next weekend are also expected to be nearly eight per cent lower than last year. As a result of the drop, more hotels than usual are closing this winter.
