Two people drown off Majorcan beaches

Two people died off Majorcan beaches yesterday, while a doctor saved the life of a German child aged seven from drowning. A German diving instructor named as Peter Albert, aged 55, was dragged unconscious from the water by one of the divers accompanying him at Cala Ferrera in Felanitx. An effort was made to revive him in a dinghy, while other eyewitnesses went ashore to seek help from the life guards. An autopsy will be held to determine the cause of death, which may have been caused by a heart attack or poor decompression, Guardia Civil sources said. In Sa Calobra, bathers found the body of a man floating in the water and brought him ashore, where paramedics failed to revive him. He was named as Otasalo Jouko, aged 63. In Porto Colom a doctor was able to save the life of a child showing symptoms of drowning in a swimming pool at a Portocolom apartment block. His identity has not been revealed. Four people have drowned in Majorca in the space of three days.
