Talks between Calvia taxi drivers and the council over enlarging the fleet are continuing to drag on but yesterday cabbies condemned Saturday night's attempted arson attack on the deputy mayor, Antonio García Moles's house. Antonio Matías, spokesperson for the taxi drivers said that the failed attack was an act of cowardice adding that the drivers are outraged because we're being blamed although there's no proof. He asked the council to retract its accusations. However, the council denies having blamed taxi drivers, adding that if it knew who had carried out the attack we'd be up in front of the courts today, But cabbies have been reprimanded by the council for having tried to storm the town hall and insult the Local Police after meetings. They were nevertheless thanked for their display of solidarity in condemning the attempted arson attack.
