Duke and Duchess of Palma have another baby boy

The Duchess of Palma, the Princess Cristina yesterday gave birth to a baby boy who is to be called Miguel. A proud Duke of Palma, Iñaki Urdangarín toasted the birth of their third son with the press at the Teknon Hospital in Barcelona, announcing the baby's name and saying that it was an easy and uncomplicated birth. The Mayor of Palma Joan Fageda yesterday sent a telegram of congratulations on behalf of the city and its residents. The Duke and Duchess were only in Palma over Easter, joining the rest of the family for the annual royal break and sailing in Majorca. When the Duke and Duchess return this summer, Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos will have a new grandson to play with. The Duke, who has recently retired from international hand ball, told the press that he and his wife were “extremely happy.” “”We're going to have football all over the house,” he joked. During the afternoon the King and Queen arrived to visit the youngest of the two Spanish princesses while her sister the Princess Elena arrived later along with close friends. The birth of Miguel now means that there are five royal grandchildren. Miguel and his two brothers Juan Valentín and Pablo Nicolás and their two cousins Felipe Juan Froilán and Victoria Federica, all of whom have become firm favourites with the press in Majorca where the rapidly growing royal family always spends its summer holidays at Marivent Palace on the outskirts of Palma. When the Princess Cristina and Iñaki Urdangarín married and were given the title Duke and Duchess of Palma, the Ramblas was renamed in their honour and the couple have always held Majorca and Palma close to their hearts.
