A total of 393 quality control inspections in food and drink will be carried out in the Balearics this year, it was announced yesterday. This will include 170 inspections of wines and drinks, 100 of animal production, 93 of fruit and vegetable and 30 of manufacturing conditions. The inspections are part of a nation-wide quality control plan. Andalucia is the region where most inspections will be carried out with 1'992, followed by Castilla y Leon with 1'403 and Valencia with 981. The community with fewest inspections is the Canary Islands with 167, followed by Cantabria with 182.
