Over the course of this year, Spanish airport authority AENA will invest 20 million euros (3.320 million pesetas) on further improvements to Palma's Son San Joan airport. This year will witness the opening of new VIP lounges and the inter-island flight terminal. Palma airport has experienced a huge increase in the number of private jet traffic and 6.33 million euros (1.052 million pesetas) is to be spent on expanding the existing private jet terminal and installing extra lounges. The new inter-island and domestic flight terminal will be located near the control tower, in the heart of the airport complex.
