The unions have announced eight days of strikes this month and next against CLH, the fuel distributer, which may lead to petrol shortages. The strike is over the company's refusal to sit down and negotiate a job saving plan, following the closure of various installations and lines of business such as transport by road, which affect 25 to 30 per cent of the company's jobs. The dates chosen are December 26, 27, 28 and 29 and January 2, 3, 4 and 5. The unions say that the strikes will cause serious problems in the supply of petrol to service stations and the airport.
