Majorca´s top British chef cooks up a treat in New York

Next Tuesday morning some half a million New Yorkers at Grand Central Station will have the chance of embarking on an exciting and surprising culinary journey served by top British chef in the Balearics, Marc Fosh. Fosh, who is the chef at Read's Hotel in Santa Maria, has been invited to take part in the UKwithNY festival of British art and culture which was opened in New York by Prince Andrew just a few days ago. Three years in the planning, UKwithNY is the largest international initiative to have been launched in New York for almost 20 years. The event reflects the solidarity that has become all the more vital after the September 11 attacks with some 200 concerts, exhibitions, performances and lectures etc. including Marc Fosh among some of Britain's top chefs along side Jamie Oliver, Raymond Blanc and Clarissa Dickson of Two Fat Ladies fame. Fosh said yesterday that he has no anxieties about travelling to the States, in particular New York at the moment. “The chances of something happening to you are fairly slim and it would be a shame if we allowed the current situation to dictate what we do. I think it's a great opportunity to boost New Yorkers' spirits, show them some support and give them something different and exciting to enjoy. It would be a great shame for New York if everybody turned their backs on them.”
