A change in weather is predicted for the Balearics today, with cloudy skies and the risk of storms, instead of the sunny days the islands have been experiencing so far this month. A gota fria is expected to form in the Gulf of Cadiz and will hit Valencia and Murcia on Wednesday and Thursday. As a result, the National Institute of Meteorology has issued a special warning, indicating that storms, accompanied by heavy rainfall, can be expected in the Balearics, Aragon and Catalonia. The rainfall will decrease as the day progresses, and the storms will move towards Valencia and Murcia, and possibly eastern Andalucia. Valencia and Murcia have been put on alert because of exceptionally heavy rainfall, which may be as much as 30 litres per square metre in an hour, and lead to the risk of flooding.
