Two workmen were injured when an old Civil War hand granade exploded as they were working on a house in Palma's Calle Mendía, near the Virgen de Lluc buildings. The explosion occurred shortly after 9am. One workman was injured in an arm and another in a leg. They did not need hospital treatment. An eyewitness said that the hand granade had been found on the roof of the house on Wednesday, and claimed that children had been playing with it. The National Police are investigating the incident. Police inspected the building and have taken away the fragments for analysis.
