Balearic President Francesc Antich will be hoping that things can only get better for his coalition government. Already in court with central government over the proposed tourist tax while battling to keep the coalition together and in power, central government in Madrid yesterday announced that it intends to appeal against the new Balearic Commercial Law, taking it to the Constitutional Tribunal which this week announced its decision to accept Madrid's appeal against the tourist tax. The acceptance of the appeal lodged against the tourist tax has blocked the tax for at least the next five months, if not indefinitely, depending on the court's final ruling. A similar fate could befall the Commercial Law.
