The Association of British Travel Agents, ABTA, was hoping to hold its 2003 conference in Majorca, but the spat between IBATUR and the Majorcan Tourist Board has put the event in jeopardy. Head of ABTA corporate affairs, Keith Betton, will be meeting the director of the Balearic Tourism Promotion Department, IBATUR, Tifanny Blackman, today for talks in London to try to resolve the situation so ABTA can set about organising the conference, which will be attended by over 2'000 delegates. Betton said ABTA would love to go to Majorca, but if it's inconvenient, we've had plenty of offers from other destinations in Spain. Betton said that ABTA's conference appears to have been overlooked by the continual arguing between the Majorcan Tourist Board and IBATUR.
