First Choice boss Peter Long has warned British holidaymakers there will be no last-minute holiday bargains this summer as rain, rail and agricultural disasters have fuelled demand for foreign destinations. Summer 2001 bookings are up 13% on last year and forward bookings for winter are 26% ahead. Portugal and the favourite Mediterranean destinations of the Balearics, Greece and Turkey have proved popular, with a strong dollar denting the appetite for longhaul destinations.
