Fire investigators and fire chiefs returned to the scene of Friday's fire which ripped through two warehouses on the Palma industrial estate causing extensive damage and injuring three firemen. The exact cause of the blaze which took firemen two hours to bring under control remain to be confirmed, but the authorities yesterday repeated calls for all businesses on the ageing industrial site to learn from the recent spate of fires and install fire systems and make sure that all health and safety norms are complied with. Not only do defective or insufficient fire controls pose a serious danger to staff, they could also hamper any insurance claims. Demolition experts were also at the scene, trying to secure the remains of the two buildings which are on the verge of collapsing, while they decide how best to pull down the damaged warehouses. The area remains closed off, but fire chiefs hope that business can return to normal on the industrial estate this morning.
