A small fleet of local fishermen yesterday hunted and caught a shark in waters off Alcúdia. The shark was first spotted at 12:30a.m. near the Paltja de Muro and the alarm was rised when a swimmer informed the 112 emergency number he ahd seen a "large fish" near the beach of Muro. A watch was mounted by th Guardia Civil, but neither sign nor news of the "big fish" was received and police thought it was a false alarm. Haowever at 4:50 another sighting was reported this time near the beach of Alcúdia. The shark was eventually located and harpooned before being towed in to Alcúdia and up on to the beach where a number of people, had gathered to watch the spectacle.
