The QE2 arrived in Palma yesterday and her passengers were taken in taxis and coaches to see the city and tour the Island. The pride of Cunard's fleet, the QE2 has had a long and illustrious career involving countless transatlantic crossings and world tours. She is efficiently run by Captain Paul Wright, a British man who has now held the honoured position for one year. Mandy-Jo Walter, a Majorcan resident who was PA to the previous Captain for three years, says she remembers Paul Wright as a pleasant easy going person to work for with an excellent sense of humour. The ship has the largest library afloat and is the only vessel to have kennels, although these are only used for transatlantic crossings. She has seen many famous faces aboard through her years of service, including the astronaut Buzz Aldrin and the American author Bill Bryson.
Warm welcome for QE2
