The annual argument over beach and bathing water quality would be an apt topic for discussion this weekend when Palma launches three days of celebration to mark World Environment Day on June 5. Balearic Environment Minister, Margalida Rossello, announced yesterday that an environmental fair is to be held along the old port of Palma, the same site as the boat show and that 15 local green organisations will be taking part. Apart from a host of stall and information outlets being set up, a series of events for the public are being organised in order to press home the importance of protecting and respecting the environment. Rossello said yesterday the environment is fundamental to our lives and we must not forget it, as the environment falls into poorer and poorer condition. The Minister said that a balance between people and their environment has to be reached, without reducing the quality of life.
