The Balearics, along with the rest of Spain is gripped by a heat wave with temperatures across the country breaking all previous records for May. Yesterday as temperatures in Majorca passed the 30ºC, 86F mark, the weather experts forecast that the heat wave which started to sweep across the country last Friday, will last well into the weekend. Last month, April, was one of the hottest and driest Aprils on record and while the heat wave is great news for sun lovers and holidaymakers, health authorities are warning people to take care in the fierce sun. Health experts have been advising the elderly and young children to keep their heads covered and to try and stay in the shade as much as possible. The public are also being urged to be aware of the symptoms of heat stroke and sun stroke.
