The Palma city council, in collaboration with the Red Cross, will provide 85'200 meals on wheels this year, 27'152 more than last year. This was announced yesterday by Mayor Joan Fageda, after signing a new agreement between the council and the Red Cross. The agreement, which is renewed on an annual basis, has been running for ten years now. Also present at the signing were Gerard Bonet, the president of the Balearic chapter of the Red Cross, and Antoni Nadal, the councillor in charge of the social welfare department. Our priority is service for the most disadvantaged persons, the Mayor said, adding that council funding for the scheme has risen this year from 74 million to 99 million pesetas.
