British tourism bonanza in the Balearics

Big spending British tourists are coming to the Balearics in force this year. While there are serious concerns for the state of the German market, this March witnessed a 32.9 per cent increase in the number of British visitors flying in to the Balearics. In March 2000, 53'444 Britons visited the islands but in March this year, the figure rose to 71'021 with the holidaymakers being well spread out across the Balearics. However, Minorca appears to be enjoying the biggest British boom. The island saw the number of British visitors rise by 115.9 per cent and the first three months of this year, compared to 2000, has seen the British market grow steadily by 74 per cent.
