Two teenagers died when their car left the road, fell down a slope and crashed into a wall at kilometre 21.4 of the Santanyi-Manacor road late on Monday night. They were named as Bartolomé Adrover Sansó, aged 19, and Raimundo Fernández Ramón, aged 17. Police sources say that the car went off the road, and travelled a distance of some 200 metres before falling down an embankment, and crashing into a farm wall. Both the driver and the passenger were thrown clear of the vehicle by the impact, and one of them fell on top of the hen house, sources said. The other victim was found a few metres away. Several friends of the victims, who were from Felanitx, yesterday visited the site of the accident. The Guardia Civil have opened an investigation into the causes of the accident. The accident has added to the growing concern about the safety of the island's roads, as the death toll from traffic accidents rises at a higher rate than previous years. Most of the victims are under the age of 25. The traffic authorities say that the chief causes of accidents are speeding, overtaking and driving too far to the left.
