A 13-year-old British boy could receive a multi-million pound pay out after a tour company was ordered to pay Kevin Roberts, who was left brain-damaged after a swimming pool accident during a holiday in Majorca, £2.5 million. The accident happened on July 19, 1993, just hours after Kevin and his family had checked into their hotel in Alcudia. The boy, then aged six, could not swim and was not wearing armbands when he entered the water. He was rescued by a German tourist and later found by his father in a hotel corridor where Kevin Roberts had been placed by staff and treated by a doctor. His parents were attending their youngest child at the time. The damages were awarded on Tuesday in the High Court in Manchester against the package holiday company Sunworld whose lawyers claimed that the boy's parents should share the blame as their son was not wearing armbands.
