Prince Felipe of Spain has confirmed that he will be competing in next month's XXXII Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofía-Majórica sailing regatta. A spokesperson for the regatta, which starts on April 5 in the Bay of Palma, said that the Prince will be skippering the Spanish navy's yacht Sirius V. The Prince will not be the only member of the Spanish royal family racing. The Infanta Cristina, the Duchess of Palma, confirmed her participation last week. She will be part of the crew on board Azur de Puig. Both the Prince and the Princess will be competing in the Cruiser-class regatta which races from April 5 to 8. The light yacht regatta will run from April 9 to 13 out of the Real Club Nautico in Palma and the organisers expect a large number of olympic, world and european champions to be taking part. But while Prince Felipe and Princess Cristina take to the water, the rest of the royal family are expected to join them in Palma at Marivent Palace. King Juan Carlos is a keen yachtsmen, as is the Infanta Elena, but they are expected to join Queen Sofia on board the royal yacht Fortuna to watch the regatta. The new royal yacht, which only came in to service last year, is expected to return to the water in the Porto Pi naval base in Palma over the next few weeks. She has spent the winter in dry dock inside her special hangar in the naval base and work is currently being carried out inside the shed.
