The easyJet group has announced a major expansion programme in Spain and this summer they will be flying to Britain from Palma four times a day. The Luton based no-frills carrier will be operating two daily flights to Luton and a further two to Liverpool. The carrier has seen their passenger movement in Palma rise from 105'000 in 1999 to 225'00 in 2000. This year a further increase is expected and the airline is in the process of strengthening its routes across Spain. There was even better news for the airlines yesterday with the announcement that budget carrier Go (owned by British Airways) is expected to abandon its Madrid route. The airline was in direct competition with easyJet. The airline says that by operating services from Luton and Liverpool they are covering the whole of England. EasyJet is also helping to encourage more people to plan their own holidays by offering cheap flights to tourist destinations across Spain. The other schedule airlines which fly to Britain including Air Europa and British Airways are said to be planning to increase their flight frequencies for this summer and air travellers will be spoilt for choice.
