Two workers for the IBANAT forestry protection service were evacuated and rushed to hospital yesterday after they were injured while fighting a blaze in the Cala Tuent area of Majorca near Escorca. According to rescue services, the two forestry protection officers were injured after slipping off a clutch of rocks in the area and were taken to a Palma clinic. The fire was reported at 7 am some 300 metres up a mountainside in Sa Costera and was still smouldering yesterday afternoon. Members from the Inca and Soller fire services fought the blaze with the support of two IBANAT helicopters as accessing the fire, of which the cause has yet to be confirmed, by land was extremely difficult.
