The Balearics may have hit the market just at the right time with its plan to double the population over the next ten years from around 700'000 residents to 1.5 million. Yesterday leading international estate agent Knight Frank announced that commuting from Mediterranean Europe will be common by the year 2010 and that the UK will have seen the sale of the first £100 million house. Over the past two years, regular and scheduled flights between UK airports and Palma have more than doubled and with the arrival of the no-frills airline easyJet over a year ago, commuting between the United Kingdom and Majorca has become a viable proposition and an increasing number of businesspeople are already enjoying the benefits of both worlds. Edward Rook of Knight Frank, which is preparing for the new millennium, said yesterday we always try and predict what will happen in the property market in the coming year, but this is the first time we have guessed at trends ten years ahead.
